The founder of European Staal, Mr. Helssen, was born and raised in Belgium and has built a distinguished career within the steel industry. His strong background is a result of both his education and acquired professional experience. After completing his studies in Belgium and the United States, he joined Cockerill Sambre, Belgium’s leading steel producer. There, he honed his expertise in steel production, quality control, and project management. Transitioning to the commercial side of the industry, Mr. Helssen focused on barter trade, becoming skilled in negotiating complex trade deals. Throughout his career, he has successfully managed large-scale industrial projects, including the sale, dismantling, and relocation of outdated steel plants. Today, Mr. Helssen is actively involved in several business activities across the EU, leveraging his vast experience in managing substantial projects. Under his leadership, European Staal is poised to continue making significant strides in the steel industry.
Dominique Grisay is a distinguished Belgian legal expert with an extensive academic and professional background. After studying law in Belgium and further specializing in international and European law at the University of Leiden, he embarked on a notable career that spans academia and legal practice. Dominique has served as both researcher and professor in leading institutions in Brussels, Paris, and Bordeaux, and his scholarly contributions include numerous books and scientific articles on EU law. His expertise has guided individuals, companies, and states in navigating complex issues in customs, trade, competition, and international public law. Dominique has defended parties before the EU Court of Justice, earned recognition as an arbitrator in investment protection matters under ICSID, and serves as a delegate to the CCBE (European Bars). As Supervisor of our company, his deep legal insights and extensive experience ensure that our operations adhere to the highest standards of legal excellence and integrity.
Yana Khudanyan brings a wealth of international legal and corporate expertise to European Staal Holding B.V. With a dynamic career spanning several countries and key leadership roles, she has consistently delivered strategic insights and robust legal management across global markets. Prior to her appointment as Managing Director, Yana Khudanyan served as Chief Legal Officer at our company, further solidifying her role as a trusted leader within our organization. Her experience includes a significant tenure as a Regional Legal Adviser, where she oversaw complex legal and regulatory frameworks. Earlier, she led international transactions and managed compliance, building a strong foundation in international and corporate law through various senior legal positions. Her academic background in European, International, and Corporate Law underscores her commitment to continuous learning and excellence.
